I’m sure you have noticed the difference between the successful and strong men in any walk of life, and the unsuccessful weak men around them. You are conscious of the widely differing characteristics of the two classes, but somehow find it difficult to express just in what the difference lies. Let us take a look at the matter.
Burton said: “The longer I live, the more certain I am that the great difference between men, the feeble and the powerful, the great and the insignificant, is energy and invincible determination - a purpose once fixed and then Death or Victory. That quality will do anything that can be done in this world - and no talents, no circumstances, no opportunities will make a two-legged creature a man without it.” I do not see how the idea could be more clearly expressed than Burton has spoken. He has put his finger right in the center of the subject - his eye has seen into the heart of it.
Energy and invincible determination - these two things will sweep away mighty barriers, and will surmount the greatest obstacles. And yet they must be used together. Energy without determination will go to waste. Lots of men have plenty of energy - they are full to overflowing with it; and yet they lack concentration - they lack the concentrated force that enables them to bring their power to bear upon the right spot. Energy is not nearly so rare a thing as many imagine it to be. I can look around me at any lime, and pick out a number of people I know who are full of energy - many of them are energy plus - and yet, somehow, they do not seem to make any headway. They are wasting their energy all the time. Now they are fooling with this thing - now meddling with that. They will take up some trifling thing of no real interest or importance, and waste enough energy and nervous force to carry them through a hard day’s work, and yet when they are through, nothing has been accomplished.
Others who have plenty of energy, fail to direct it by the power of the Will toward the desired end. “Invincible determination” - those are the words. Do they not thrill you with their power? If you have something to do, get to work and do it. Marshal your energy, and then guide and direct it by your Will - bestow upon it that “invincible determination” and you will do the thing.
Everyone has within him a giant will, but the majority of us are too lazy to use it. We cannot get ourselves nerved up to the point at which we can say, truthfully: “I Will.” If we can but pluck up our courage to that point, and will then pin it in place so that it will not slip back, we will be able to call into play that wonderful power - the Human Will. Man, as a rule, has but the faintest conception of the power of the Will, but those who have studied along the occult teachings, know that the Will is one of the great dynamic forces of the universe, and if harnessed and directed properly it is capable of accomplishing almost miraculous things.
Energy and Invincible Determination: — aren’t they magnificent words? Commit them to memory - press them like a die into the wax of your mind, and they will be a constant inspiration to you in hours of need. If you can get these words to vibrating in your being, you will be a giant among pygmies. Say these words over and over again, and see how you are filled with new life - see how your blood will circulate - how your nerves will tingle. Make these words a part of yourself, and then go forth anew to the battle of life, encouraged and strengthened. Put them into practice. “Energy and Invincible Determination” - let that be your motto in your work-a-day life, and you will be one of those rare men who are able to “do things.”
Many persons are deterred from doing their best by the fact that they underrate themselves by comparison with the successful ones of life, or rather, overrate the successful ones by comparison with themselves.

Is Psychic Power for everyone? I think this is a good question, but, owing to the wide range of paranormal powers and their potential derivation from different sources, the question probably needs to be broken down.
Even if Psychic Power exists, is it something to be sought directly? Some Yogis, for example, refer to a Psychic Power like Levitation or Telepathy as a “Siddhi” or “special power), a natural consequence of high meditative practice, but nothing to be sought for its own sake. Some quote Jesus’ saying, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will be granted to you.” One possible interpretation of this saying is that one should practice the prayer of union (see the article on prayer) and not seek special powers in themselves.
Other cultures, as diverse as Wicca or the Remote Viewing Community, or professional parapsychologists, regard Psychic Power as somehow inherent in one’s nature and often obtained quite naturally. They might point out that Psychic Power is a gift that often arrives uninvited altogether so why not seek it out and cultivate it. In fact, to those communities, Psychic Power really belongs to everyone from the moment it is born. It is very normal in a child unless society represses it. There is no secret to it, unless society represses it. The German poet, Goethe, called it “the Open Secret.” It’s there. You just have to latch onto it. In some communities, like ours, you can study it with psychics and mediums. In others, it might be a Medicine Man or an oracle.
I think it may be safe to say that objects of Psychic Power, including the world of ghosts and people who have passed on, reside in other dimension contiguous but different than this. Some people like the famous medium Eileen Garrett who wrote extensively about her experience with Psychic Power, seem to have a more natural sensitivity to these other worlds- like a person with Psychic Power who hears mysterious sounds or see strange things in the night while he is surrounded by friends, sadly lacking in Psychic Power, who hear and see nothing.
Does the common person have enough Psychic Power to learn to communicate with departed spirits? Most mediums seem to indicate, “yes.” And there is always the Ouiji board, a device readily available for those who wish to experiment with the Psychic Power of such communication. However, as do many others, the psychic, Alan Vaughan, does not believe that the Ouiji board may be such a simple or beneficial route to Psychic Power, no matter how convenient. His experiments with the Ouiji board led him to an experience of Possession that frustrated and confused him. The spirit finally left him, though the aid of another departed spirit, which seemed concerned about his fate. Alan was left puzzled with new Psychic Power but he warn of the dangers of capriciously dealing with the dead.
Psychic Power is not absolutely predictable. Sometimes, a psychic can somewhat control it or at least back off of it. Sometimes, it seems to be hard to turn it off. Some have done very well exercising their Psychic Power for themselves, in gambling or horses, but many have also warned of the consequences of Psychic Power this for self-serving purposes.

Throughout history people have sort ways of finding spiritual or mystical guidance in their every day lives. Consulting the Oracle, Soothsayer or village wise person who had the gift of seeing into the future was common practice in ancient times. However, you don’t have to be a psychic to predict the future. In the simple system of Cyclomancy, a revolving device, such as a wheel or revolving circle can be very effective tool for divination (ability to foretell the future by intuitive rather than scientific or rational means). The practice of Cyclomamcy may have been the origin of the roulette wheel as a game of chance.
The “wheel-of-fortune” found at fair grounds which stops on prize-winning numbers or the TV “Wheel of Fortune” are also based on this concept. Cyclomancy has survived as the popular party kissing game “spin the bottle”, or in a combination of ‘Truth or Dare’. In this variation, the spinner gets to ask the person whom the bottle points to an intimate, personal question, which must be answered truthfully. In all these methods, the decision of the wheel is automatically fulfilled, so it is not surprising that many people believe that questions concerning their future can be answered by a similar contrivance.
Cyclomancy dates from time immemorial, and takes its name from the Latin word ‘Cyclomantia’ and from ancient Greek ‘Kyklos’ meaning a circle. Spinning arrows may be used instead of revolving wheels for telling fortunes. In occult practices the wheel will have astrological signs, numbers, letters, words or mystical symbolic makings around it. The powerful archetypal symbol of the ‘Wheel of fortune’ in the tarot deck reminds us of how random and unpredictable life can be. And that we are all subject to the workings of fate and Karma, in that what ever he/she sows he/she shall reap.
One form of divinational consultation is in finding geographical direction. When at a crossroad, take a bottle and lay it horizontally on the ground, and spin it. When it stops spinning, the neck of the bottle will point to the road where your destiny lies. Alternatively, before spinning the bottle ask a question with regards to the different directions, for example in which direction will I have the most fun, view the best sights or meet a new friends. Variations of the method use knifes or spinning tops.
In order to get started, first you’re going to have to check your logic mind behind. It’s a bit like visiting the cinema and as you walk in the door agreeing with yourself that for the next 90 minutes or so you will suspend your sense of reality. Trusting your intuition is a lot like that, once you begin to ‘trust’ that your question will be answered, somehow the cosmic wheels begin to turn and you will receive the answer to your question.
This handy do-it-yourself divination tool can be used when seeking advice or answers to questions regarding past, present or future events. To make your own Cyclomancy fortune telling wheel, first cut a piece of card to the size of a dinner plate. Using a pen, divide the wheel into ten equal sections so that it looks similar to the spokes of a cycle wheel. Next pierce a hole in the centre with a skewer. Take three deep breaths and relax, as you do this gently begin to focus on the question that you would like to ask. When you feel ready spin the wheel and see where it stops. In a similar way an arrow could be secured to the centre by a pivot so that it freely revolves when given a sharp spin, the number that the arrow stops on being the significant one.
The analysis of the number is based on the ancient system of Numerology also known as Arithmomancy. The system was popular amongst early mathematicians such as Pythagoras who believed that each of the numbers one to nine had it’s own psychic or spiritual significance.
The interpretation of the numbers is as follows :
